Basic Dog Obedience Training
One of the highlights of having a dog is the ability to take them out on adventures and out in public. We also of course love to know that they will behave at home too! Basic obedience is the groundwork for a stress-free experience no matter where you take your pup- and we are here to help! Sit, down, place, leave it, and walking nicely on leash are some of the foundational skills we teach to all dogs no matter their age. Here at Harrisville Working Dogs our obedience instruction is offered in three different styles: group classes, one on one, or a board and train.
Dog Socialization Classes
Scent and odor detection will include training for both the K9 and handler in indoor and outdoor scenarios, inside buildings, vehicle searches, area searches, and more. We have the training, tools, and expertise to provide training for K9’s and Handler’s regardless of how new or experienced either the K9 or Handler are to your agency’s K9 program.
Scent/Odor training includes either Explosives or Narcotics.
Private Dog Training Classes
Our Police K9 Handler training includes suspect tracking and article searches in numerous scenarios and outdoor environments, during both day and night, regardless of weather conditions.

We rescued a young German Shepherd dog from a recue in Elko, Nevada. We brought him home and named him "BROCK". He seemed to understand some basic commands like sit and lay down and he had a lot of puppy energy which really … More came out when we walked him. He didn't really pull but would take every inch of the leash he could. When we told him to stay, he would lay down and stay in position for about a minute maybe two if we were lucky.
We met JD and had a consultation with him and he told us we had a really good dog and mentioned that they have Sunday training classes that we could come to and work on training Brock.
We decided that since a German Shepherd dog like Brock could be a lot of dog to handle and train ourselves, we decided to put him in "board and train" for professional training.
JD and Carter worked with Brock during the board and train. They did an excellent job with Brock's training. When Brock came home he would sit and stay patiently until he was called. He will sit in "place" for 90 minutes or more. He will even put himself in "place", forget that he put himself there, and after awhile start whining to be called off, he learned "place" that well!
He is pleasurable to walk staying right on our side the whole time. When there are other dogs going crazy behind a fence he walks by barely paying any attention to them, usually just giving a glance at them if even that.
Harrisville Working dogs took our really good dog and helped him become an excellent dog that obeys wonderfully. We have been going to the Sunday training classes so that we can be trained as well as Brock. We are learning more about effective ways to do more training with Brock. The Sunday classes are great for the socializing of the dogs that are there. The structure of the classes is well planned out. With the training foundation that JD and Carter established and with what we have learned at the classes, we have been able to teach Brock more commands and tricks.
Having Harrisville Working Dogs be a part of Brock's life was the best choice we made to help Brock become a wonderful part of our family.

Dog Board & Train
Our board & train program allows you to leave your dog in our care to get intensive training for behavioral issues. We take the first two weeks setting ground rules, breaking bad habits, and instilling confidence in the new rules. After that we begin obedience, helping solidify the training we began and setting a great foundation for you, the owner, to build on.
Working Dog Training
Working Dog Training includes courses in Personal Protection, Scent/Odor Detection, Tracking, and more. Let us help you keep you and yours safe through training a home protection or personal protection dog.
Patrol K9 Handler Training
We regularly work with numerous law enforcement agencies to train and help prepare their K9’s for certification. Our extensive training is available for new and seasoned K9’s as well as their handlers. Training covers everything from Patrol work and Obedience to Scent/Odor Detection, Tracking and Article Searches.
Utah POST Certification can be provided as available through the area’s examiners/judges.
